PLANET OF THE APES (1968)

Charlton Heston stars as astronaut George Taylor, who crash lands with several others on a remote planet ruled by apes. In this campy 1968 classic human are slaves caged up like animals. The planet's leader Dr. Zaius is astonished when he discovers that Taylor can speak. Simian scientists Cornelius and Dr. Zira try to protect the humans but Heston escapes only to discover further surprises. Scripted by Rod Serling and Michael Wilson, this film won a special Academy Award for John Chamber's amazing makeup and prosthetics work.
